Ceremony Launching event for a Welcome Sign

October 5th 2023, Government of Timor-Leste through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Forestry (MALFF), the General Directorate of Forests, Coffee, and Industrial Plants, the Minister of Tourism and Environment (MTE) in partnership Conservation International Timor-Leste (CI-TL), and the administrator of the municipality of Liquica, organized a Ceremony Launching event for a Welcome Sign in the Protected Area of Mount Kutulau, Metagou village, Post Administrative of Bazartete, Municipality of Liquica.

The primary objective of installing welcome signs is to raise public awareness of the existence of protected areas. This helps the local community and visitors understand that the area has special value in terms of ecology, culture, and history.

During the ceremony, His Excellency Fernandinho Vieira, Secretary of State for Forests, emphasized the crucial role of the protected area for both the local community and the government. The government is committed to creating the necessary conditions and facilities to boost the local economy.
